Practical Presentation Advice:
Presentations are something you will probably have to do several times throughout your student life. Whether in high school, university or even during workplace training.
Presentations by students are meant to bring out their latent talents and confidence.
As per my experience and at the time of my initial Presentation delivery on stage "When the throat gets dry, we begin to feel that our heart hitting in our mouth, hands getting sweaty and the spotlight closes on us. And there it goes the panic attack. This is a common happening that most of us the students face while giving presentations".
Below are a few Effective Presentation Tips:
The first stage of any presentation is to write it all down. It’s important to make sure you have all the points you want to cover written out clearly so you’re confident you are covering everything you need to, The best place to start is usually with a rough outline of all the points you want to cover. Mark out your opening and conclusion, as well as the main topics you want to talk about.
Sporting a good body language with wearing sober clothes and minimal movements makes your listeners take you seriously. The way you move, walk and stand is constantly being monitored by your audience. Thus, it would be advised to avoid disagreeable facial movements, moving, and hands in the pocket.
Keep The Slides Simple and Easy-To-Read:
Well, you may have heard it in your Communication Skills class – there should not be too many words on the slides. Having a text-heavy slide makes it extremely difficult for the audience to understand you – obviously, they are not there to read. Make sure you present your content in simple bullet points and that you do most of the talking.
Keep The Audience Engaged:
The presenters who can engage their audience for the maximum amount of time are considered to be the best presenters. For this, you may have to do something unconventional, such as having a cartoon in your PowerPoint presentation and talking to it or making an interesting conversation with somebody in the audience. Whatever you do, the point is to grab your listeners’ attention and keep it with you throughout.
The best way to connect with an audience is to start by telling a personal story. This tells them that you are sharing a part of your life with them and makes them ready for what you have to say afterward. A story builds a sense of trust and shows the audience that you are also a human. If you do it right, there is a very high probability that your PowerPoint Presentation will be a success.
Making eye contact throughout the presentation with everybody from the left corner to right is very important. It makes the audience feel that they are being talked to and this is what the purpose of a presentation is. Make sure you prepare to make eye contact with a friend in practice. The trick is to be relaxed and think of it as a conversation. It is only when you seem interested in the audience that they consider truly listening to what you have to say.
Be Excited About What You Have To Say – Or At least Seem So:
No matter what topic you are given by your teacher, there is always some aspect in it that you are interested in. Find that angle and show your interest in the presentation. Obviously, if you do not seem interested, your audience will not either. Also, people are more convincing when they are talking about something they are really passionate about.
No doubt, visuals enable listeners to focus on something other than your voice. You may effortlessly enhance your presentation with picture slides, images, and posters. These will certainly give your audience a greater understanding of what you are communicating.
To make it short, just follow the above-mentioned suggestions and you will be able to give a magnificent presentation that your audience will remember for a longer period of time.
Thank you :)
