The Most Powerful Ways to Start a Presentation

“The beginning is the most important part of the work.” —Plato

Before you present your presentation you should always be sure that you have planned and prepared well. Never leave anything for chance. If you have not planned well then you will lead yourself to failure.

First lesson: Make sure you have prepared.

There are 5 steps to follow to make the formal opening of presentation that are:-
Step 1: Greet the audience.
Example:
  • Good morning
  • Thank you very much for giving the opportunity
  • Okay, let's get started.

Make sure that you start with a confident, gracious, louder voice: hello everyone, or good morning everyone, good evening everyone depending on the day of the time and your audience.

Step 2 State the topic(Tell your audience what you are going to talk about).
Example:
  • Today I would like to present...
  • The subject of my presentation is...
Step 3: Give the outline.
Example:
  • There are three parts of my presentation.
  • To begin with... Following that... Last but not least...
  • The subject will be looked under the following heading: Firstly... Secondly... And finally...
Step 4: Say how long you will take.
Example:
  • This will be briefed in 30 minutes
  • I will only take your 15 minutes
Step 5: When you will take questions.
Example:
  • There will be a time in the end for question and comments
  • Please save any questions for the end of the talk.
